Scratch Disks - belated conclusion
Sorry about the complete lack of posts for the last few months. I've had some other important stuff on my mind and not so much interested techy-geeky things going on. For anyone who was wondering what became of my last test using Formby's Furniture Polish to repair my scratched DVD let me quickly relate the results.

This stuff seems to be a bit rare and I couldn't find any either at Home Depot, Lowes, or Publix. Instead I elected to try the next best thing... Pledge. I figured that if it didn't make the scratches any better, at least my DVD would smell lemony fresh.

I sprayed the stuff on and gave it a good polish with my lint-free cloths. After several passes of this the scratches didn't look any better than when I started, but I was able to play the DVD with only some minor artifacts in places and no major hiccups. At the end I was able to pull off most of the video to my DV camcorder.

Would Formby's have done a better job? Who knows. I don't know what the difference is in the products, but the wax seems to do somewhat of a good job of filling in the scratches enough to be able to read some of the data. If anyone else out there has tried the Formby's to better effect, please let me know.
